All works must have been created within the last 2 years and not be performed in Richmond, Virginia 6 months prior to the performance date.
For Artists who are submitting dance film works:
Only completed film works will be accepted at the time of the application deadline, February 16th, 2018
What do the artists receive?
The Choreographers’ Showcase is fully produced by Starr Foster Dance Project, and is responsible for all costs of producing the concert including theater rental, lighting design, technical support and all publicity and press. The theater is a state-of-the-art facility, designed specifically for dance, and can accommodate a wide variety of advanced production needs. The Showcase choreographers will receive an honorarium after the completion of the performances. Participating artists are responsible for any costs for food, lodging, travel and dancer compensation. We will assist those who are traveling to Richmond from out of town with information about the area and local hotels, and if needed, help to place you with a local artist or family during your stay.
The Showcase participants are responsible for meeting all deadlines for lighting, spacing and tech, as well as press and program needs. If these needs are not met, SFDP has the right to pull the work from the concert.
If you have been produced in the Showcase before, we encourage you to do again, and take notice that we have extended the time limit and are accepting up to 20 minutes of work. For our 16th year milestone, in addition to accepting new artists, we have decided we would embrace the opportunity to honor four of our past Showcase participates, because of their substantial contributions to the dance community through teaching, performance and choreography.
